Building Trade Examination Applications and Licenses

The Department processes the following Building Trade Examinations and Licenses. For information, visit the Construction Service Center at 201 N. Figueroa Street, Room 110, Los Angeles, CA 90012. The Trade License Counter hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm & Wednesday 9:00 am to 4:30 pm

Material Control Section

The Materials Control Section functions within the Inspection Bureau to administer the provisions of the building code related to approved fabricators, approved testing agencies, and building trade examination applications and licenses.

• Approved Fabricators are manufacturers producing products where part of the production process requires special inspection (i.e. welding, post/pre tension concrete slabs).
• Approved Fabricator License Renewal Instructions
• Approved Testing Agencies are the facilities where material testing is performed as required by the construction codes.
• Listing is an itemized listing of Approved Fabricators, Approved Testing Agencies and Registered Deputy Building Inspectors.
  

Research Reports

A system to search for and review LADBS "Research Reports" that approve the use of building, electrical, and mechanical products within the City of Los Angeles.

Testing Laboratories and Research

The Testing Laboratories and Research provide evaluation services for non-listed or unapproved construction materials, equipment, fixtures or devices.
