The proposed project consists of a series of improvement projects at MacArthur Park to help upgrade the deteriorating park facilities and provide for new and expanded recreational opportunities at the park. The planned improvements would include: a new children’s playground; installation of a new synthetic field for active recreation use; installation of new lighting in poorly lighted areas of the park, and replacement of existing security lighting fixtures; demolition and replacement of the boat house with a modern concessions building on the lake; completion of renovations to the historic Signal Building Community Center including the public restrooms; renovation of all park walkways and widening of the sidewalks at the perimeter of the park; renovation of various artwork throughout the park; and, installation of a new monument in honor of Monsignor Oscar Romero.
REVIEW LOCATIONS:
A Draft Negative Declaration has been prepared for the project and will be circulated for a 45-day review period, beginning on February 28, 2008 and ending on April 14, 2008. Copies of the document are available for review at:
