  THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS VISION STATEMENT  

The City of Los Angeles' Department of Public Works creates and maintains the physical framework and underpinnings of one of the most geographically, economically and ethnically diverse cities in the world. Public Works helps define our City--allowing Los Angeles to be a major financial center, a creative social force and an internationally recognized leader in restoring and improving urban environments.

Public Works supports and enhances a high quality of life for the City's residents, businesses and visitors by providing well planned, environmentally sensitive, cost-effective infrastructure and services to promote public health, personal safety, transportation, economic growth, and civic vitality. We also prepare for, respond to and aid in recovery after earthquakes, storms and other emergencies as an integral part of providing and maintaining public works services.

We in Public Works honor the diversity of our customers and deliver quality services that meet individual, neighborhood and community needs. We are flexible and responsive, listen to our customers and make public participation an integral part of our open decision-making processes. We welcome being held accountable for the quality and efficiency of the products and services we provide. Our standard for excellence is measured by the satisfaction of our customers.

The leadership of the Department of Public Works recognizes our employees as our most valuable assets.
