Instructions for using LA 3-1-1 Online

(1) Service Request Types.
Currently LA 3-1-1 Online has a limited number of service request types which will be expanded over time. See also the Services Online menu in the upper right corner of www.lacity.org for additional service requests that can be submitted via the web.
(2) Specific Street Addresses.
Please enter a specific, valid street address when requesting a City service. Enter a specific street number and valid street name, the street's directional indicator is optional. Choose from a list of valid street addresses if an options list is presented; knowing the location's zip code may be important since some street addresses may be duplicated in various areas of the City.
(3) Intersection Locations.
Intersections may be entered when a specific street address is not available or not known; however, where possible, specific street addresses are preferred. When entering an intersection, key the intersection data into the street name field in the following format, PICO AND FAIRFAX. Street numbers and directional data can be omitted. If available, a specific street address associated with the intersection will be determined for the service request. If a list of optional addresses is presented, select one of the valid street addresses from the list.
(4) Caller Contact Data.
Caller contact data is optional; however, name and phone number is desired in case the servicing City department needs to contact you to complete the service request.
(5) Email Address.
The caller's email address is optional. If, however, the caller would like to subsequently check on the status of the service request via the Web, an email address is required along with the service request number. Also, if an email address is provided, the caller will receive an email confirmation of the requested service as well as an email when the service is completed.
(6) Service Request Number.
Write down the service request number displayed at the end of the intake process so you can check on the service request status either via LA 3-1-1 Online or by dialing 3-1-1 and talking to a 3-1-1 agent.
(7) Problems. If you are experiencing any problems submitting the service request, please call our agents on the phone by dialing 3-1-1. Our agents will intake your request for service and record the problem you are having using the City's LA 3-1-1 Online service.
