The below information represents some of the common questions asked about the Security Services Division personnel and facilities:
1. I am visiting City Hall, am I required to identify myself before entering ? All visitors are required to show identification, are subject to a weapons screening, and check in at the security desk before being admitted to City Hall.
2. If I am visiting the Civic Center, where can I park ? Several public parking lots are available including a lot under the Los Angeles mall. Additional parking lots on nearby surrounding streets and metered parking may also be utilized. Be aware that each lot charges a different rate for usage and when using street parking, pay close attention to posted signs.
3. Can Security Officers write parking citations ? Security Officers employed by the Department of General Services are authorized to issue parking citations.
Police
Officers employed by the Department of General Services are not affiliated
with the Los Angeles Police Department, but have the same on-duty police
powers as any other police officer in the state, capable of issuing traffic
citations, making arrests and performing other peace officer functions.
