Welcome to the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation Bicycle Information Web Site.
The purpose of the LADOT Bicycle Homepage is to provide bicycle information to the constituents of the City of Los Angeles.
With a primary emphasis on the use of bicycles for commuting and utilitarian purposes, the page will provide information on bicycle facilities,
the Los Angeles Bicycle Advisory Committee, bikeway maintenance as well as safety information,
bicycling and the law and other sources of information on bicycling as a commuting option.
Bicycle Plan Update The City of Los Angeles has released draft bicycle facility maps from the new draft Bicycle Plan and has posted them on the Plan website for input on the website.
Please click on the following link to see the draft maps and to provide public input.
It is anticipated the completed draft Bicycle Plan will be posted for public input, and additional public workshops will be scheduled at the end of June.

Bicycle Licensing
For your information, on June 2, 2009 the City Council voted to repeal the City's Bicycle Licensing Program.
Bicycle licenses are no longer required in the City of Los Angeles.
Please carry identification when riding a bicycle and be sure children have identification as well in the form of an identification bracelet, sticker in their helmet, or bicycle registration with a private firm.
In addition there are various ways of identifying your bicycle in the event it is stolen, photos and making a note of the serial number as well as including an identifier in the seat tube of the bicycle.
